How to Personalize your Engagement Pictures

Hehe, another post. YAY. I want to talk about engagement pictures and how you can personalize them. Make sure your pictures tell your love story without leaving out details. You as a couple are not the same as the couple I worked with last week AND THAT’S OKAY! Let’s chat about ways my couples have personalized or “spiced” up their pictures.

First off, your outfit choices! Do not, I repeat do not, show up to your session in a long dress and heels if you would rather be in jeans and Vans or vice versa. I, personally, give my couples the option for two outfits. So bring two outfits that represent you. If that is a dress and heels and then jeans and vans, do it. I just don’t want you to feel constrained in having to wear a specific style of outfit.

Another way you should keep in mind is by incorporating your hobbies and interests as a couple. If you and your person are avid hikers, let’s hike. If you love skateboarding, bring the board. If you guys love plants, take me to the botanical gardens. These hobbies that you share make-up a portion of your relationship and I think it’s special to capture you doing something that makes you feel loved, since you associate it with being loved by your person.

One of my favorite ways to personalize your session is with food or drinks. Let’s pop the champagne, get pizza or grab an iced coffee. One thing I have loved is when a couple incorporated similar food to what they will have at their wedding. For example, they brought coffee to their engagement session and served coffee at their wedding. Another couple planned to have a pizza food truck at their wedding, so we stopped at the end of the session to grab some pizza. You don’t have to incorporate things from your wedding though. If you guys just love Chick-fil-A pick it up and come to the session. (Also I want an 8 count nugget meal with diet lemonade, thank you).

The last way to personalize your session, honestly kind of ties into the previous ways, but your location. Do an in-home session if you guys just got a new house and are excited to make it a home. Choose a studio/backdrop style if that is you! Go to the mountains or the beach if that is more so you as a couple. Like I've said before, I’ll travel anywhere for my couples, so if you need a sign to hire me and go somewhere fun, this is it!! :)

There is not a wrong way to plan your session as long as they represent you and who you guys are as a couple. Your love story is special. Let’s tell the story, don't leave out the details! So grab your vans, champagne glasses, and let’s shoot in a greenhouse, because WHY NOT!

With so much love! Xx,

P
